Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian islands, and boasts the third highest mountain in Greece. With speactacular scenery, magnificent beaches and clear blue water, this beautiful island was once voted the 10th in most beautiful place in the world. In 2009 Forbes Magazine voted it the 4th best place to live in Europe.

A massive earthquake largely destroyed Kefalonia in 1953. Fiskardo is the only town not to have been destroyed by the earthquake, and thus features characteristic examples of the islands traditional architecture. The rest of the island has been rebuilt and is now a mixture of the old and the new, making it a unique Greek island. A great site for information on all the Greek Islands is here

Kefalonia is a national park, and home to wild ponies, golden eagles, ospreys and other protected species, whilst the marine wildlife includes dolphins, rare monk seals and the loggerhead turtle. Combining the above with excellent restaurants and tavenas, Kefalonia is the perfect holiday destination to enjoy scenic beauty, wonderful authentic local food, and relaxation.
